AWA Wellness Scholarship
"Win the Gift of Wellness"
 
A Wellness Association wants to increase knowledge and understanding of the importance and benefits of reducing stress and being attentive to our overall wellness. Winners of the monthly essay contest will receive scholarship awards for wellness services.

Who is eligible?
Any individual may enter the contest on behalf of his/herself,
a loved one, or on behalf of their organization or company. 

SUBMIT ONLINE APPLICATION
The essay should consist of 100-250 words and can be submitted via web or mail.
Entries may be typed or handwritten legibly.

Entry Deadline:
All entries should be postmarked by the last day of the month.
Awards
Individual: $150 scholarship
Organization: $500 scholarship


Complete Official Rules

Section I - General Rules
1. A Wellness Association is divided into two levels: Individual and Organization. All winners selected will receive a gift certificate with the award amount and will be able to redeem that certificate for any AWA offered services for a full or partial payment.
2. Contestants must enter by completing entire package.  Excluding any portion may lessen the applicants opportunity to be selected.
3. All entries received at AWA Headquarters will be reviewed by a panel of judges.
4. Contestants must compose an original essay with limited guidance from others.
5. A Wellness Association will have the right to edit, publish or otherwise duplicate any essay entered into the contest without payment to the author.
6. There is no cost to enter the contest.

Section II - Qualifications for Contestants
1. The contest is open to all regardless of their background.
2. Contestants may submit only one essay entry during any given contest month.
3. No individual having previously won an AWA Wellness Scholarship will be eligible to submit an entry for one (1)year after award of scholarship.

Section III - Contest Rules
1. Each contestant should read a copy of the rules and must complete the entry form. The rules contain information about the contest, judging and awards.
2. Participants must write on the official topic.
3. Each entry must include the Contest Entry Title Page (entry form) or submit a cover page containing the same information found on the Entry Form.
4. Essays may be typewritten or legibly handwritten but must be double-spaced.
5. Essays must contain at least 100 words but no more than 250 words. Every word of the essay is counted. This does not include the title, bibliography or footnotes.
6. Any quotations or copyrighted material used in the essay must be identified properly. Failure to identify non-original material will result in disqualification.
7. Essays must be written in English.
8. The entry must be stapled together in the upper left-hand comer.
9. Any protest in the conduct of the contest must be made immediately and will be reviewed by the AWA Scholarship Review Board.

Section IV - Judging and Timing
1. Judging will be completed by a panel of qualified judges.
2. In an effort to conceal the identity of each contestant, each entry will be assigned a number by the Essay Contest Chair. The assigned number will be placed on the title page and first page of the essay. The title page will then be detached and retained by the Essay Contest Chair. The judges will be given the essay bearing only the assigned number.
3. Judges will not discuss or compare essays being judged until all essays have been judged.
4. Only judges can assign a penalty or awards.

Section V - Scoring of Contest
Scoring procedures at all levels of the contest will be identical.
1. Ability to answer topic question (prepared in the proper format): 50 points
2. Ability to convey need for the program: 35 points
3. Grammar, Punctuation, Spelling, Neatness, Organization : 15 points

Entries will be divided into classes for children and adults and awards will be given based on the lclassification of the entries.
